Welcome to the Wildcat Powwow Website!

We, the Wildcat Powwow Society, cordially invite you to attend the University of Arizona Wildcat Powwow in Tucson, Arizona at Bear Down Field - April 11th and 12th, 2008. Please check the website periodically for changes and we look forward to your presence. GO WILDCATS! Travel Safe!

Driving directions from the Interstate. Exit Speedway Blvd. and follow signs to the University of Arizona. Drive on Speedway until you reach Cherry Ave. At Cherry Ave. turn right or in the southern direction towards the football stadium. In front of the football stadium, is where Bear Down Field is located. Signs should be visible. All Vendors may enter on north end to drop off items and must move vehicles immediately.  

 

Remember this is a SMOKE FREE EVENT

*All canopies must be taken down during the dinner break on Friday and Saturday evening for spectators. Free Parking will be available in Cherry Garage , Zone 1 parking behind Graham/Greenlee Dorms, and next to the AZ Football Stadium all AFTER 5p.m.

(The committee reserves the right to combine categories that have less than five (5) registered dancers.)

1.     Registration for all categories will be open Friday evening, April 11 at 5:00PM and continue Sat. April 12 from 10:00am and will close at 1:00pm.

2.     Contestants may enter in only one category and once registered, cannot switch categories.

3.     Contestants must have full dance regalia to compete. The contestant's regalia must be suitable and appropriate for the division in which they compete.

4.     Contestants must be at lest one-fourth Indian blood. Tribal ID may be requested.

5.     Grand Entry points will be given for Saturday sessions only.

6.     Each contestant must wear the number issued by the registrar for their contest category. Contestant's number must be visible in order to receive points during the grand entries.

7.     Registration is in person only, if someone is registering for another contestant other than themselves, the registrar and powwow committee will not be responsible for mix-ups.

8.     Monetary donations from spectators during the contest will disqualify the contestant for that session.

9.  Contestants must dance on the day they register, they will be charged admission price the next day, if they do not do so.

Cash Registration Fee: $3.00

1.     All lead singers must register (cash registration) their drum group. Drum registration will begin Friday April 11 at 5:00PM and close at 1:00PM Saturday April 12, 2008.

2.     To answer drum roll call, at least two drummers and the drum must be present.
