Welcome to the Wildcat Powwow Website!

We, the Wildcat Powwow Society, cordially invite you to attend the University of Arizona Wildcat Powwow in Tucson, Arizona at Bear Down Field - April 10th and 11th, 2009. Please check the website periodically for changes and we look forward to your presence. GO WILDCATS! Travel Safe!

Driving directions from the Interstate 10. Exit Speedway Blvd. and follow signs to the University of Arizona. Drive on Speedway until you reach Cherry Ave. At Cherry Ave. turn right or in the southern direction towards the football stadium. In front of the football stadium, is where Bear Down Field is located. Signs should be visible. All Vendors may enter on south end to drop off items and must move vehicles immediately.  

 

Remember this is a SMOKE FREE EVENT

*Bring your own chairs and canopies for this is an outside event. Free Parking will be available on Friday in the
visitor parking lot behind Graham/Greenlee Dorms, and next to the AZ Football Stadium
AFTER 5 p.m.  Visitor parking is also available for $3 in the Cherry Avenue Garage. Parking will be free on Saturday!

Dance Contest: Golden Age 50+, Adults 18-49, Teens 13-17, Juniors 7-12, *Tiny Tots paid daily

Drum Contest: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place *must be registered drum group

(The committee reserves the right to combine categories that have less than five (5) registered dancers.)

1.     Registration for all categories will be open Friday evening, April 10 at 5:00PM and continue Sat. April 11 from 10:00am and will close at 1:00pm.

2.     Contestants may enter in only one category and once registered, cannot switch categories.

3.     Contestants must have full dance regalia to compete. The contestant's regalia must be suitable and appropriate for the division in which they compete.

    4.    Each contestant must wear the number issued by the registrar for their contest category. Contestant's number must be visible in order to receive points during the grand entries and contest.

5.     Registration is in person only, if someone is registering for another contestant other than themselves, the registrar and powwow committee will not be responsible for mix-ups.

7.  Contestants must dance on the day they register, they will be charged admission price the next day, if they do not do so.

Rules for Drum Groups

Cash Registration Fee: $3 per singer (including women back-up singers) for each Drum Group Registration.

All Drums are Welcome

Public Address System will be Provided

1.     All lead singers must register (cash registration) their drum group. Drum registration will begin Friday April 10 at 5:00PM and close at 1:00PM Saturday April 11, 2008.

2.  All singers must register with ONE drum group in order to qualify for Drum Contest.

 3. To answer drum roll call, at least two drummers and the drum must be present.
